Regular Monthly Meeting

 

            The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by President Robyn Dvoracek.  President Dvoracek stated that the meeting was in compliance with the Nebraska Open Meetings Act as posted in the room and notice of the meeting was advertised and posted.  Roll call of members present: Robyn Dvoracek, Jenise Graves, Michael Higgins, Robyn Rasmussen, Kristina Radke and Terry Spilinek.  Other present included: Matthew Palmer, Annice Marlow and members of the public.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all present.

 

            Motion by Higgins, seconded by Spilinek to approve the agenda as prepared.  Yes – Higgins, Radke, Rasmussen, Spilinek, Graves, Dvoracek. No – 0.  Motion carried 6 – 0.

 

            The board heard a Celebration of Excellence for Kenna Graves who received Honorable Mention All-Conference Basketball and Jaden Lambrecht who received sixth place in Science Olympiad.

 

            Public comments were heard. The Principal, AD and Superintendent reports were given.  Board committee reports were also given.

 

             The board heard from school personnel on the progress of the Ag/FFA projects that are ongoing.

 

            Motion by Higgins, seconded by Spilinek to approve items on the consent agenda including Minutes from the Regular Meeting held March 11, 2019; Minutes from the Special Meeting held March 21, 2019; Monthly Financial Report and Payment of the bills including payroll; Hire four summer student custodial helpers; Appoint Superintendent as Affirmative Action Coordinator; Resignation of Paraprofessional Maxine Lewandowski at the end of the 2018-2019 school year; Resignation of Agricultural Teacher Aubrie Brown at the end of the 2018-2019 Contract.  Yes – Radke, Rasmussen, Spilinek, Graves, Higgins, Dvoracek.  No – 0. Motion carried 6 – 0

 

            Motion by Higgins, seconded by Spilinek to accept sealed bids on the car and read at the next regular meeting.  Yes – Higgins, Radke, Rasmussen, Spilinek, Graves, Dvoracek.  No – 0.  Motion carried 6 – 0.

 

            The Board received information on the following discussion items:  Support Staff pay scale for 2019-2020, Assistant Principal Position, Graduation Ceremony and Summer Weightlifting.

 

Motion by Graves, seconded by Radke to set an incentive credit redemption deadline of May 1, 2019 for Seniors and Exchange Students.  Yes – Rasmussen, Spilinek, Dvoracek, Graves, Higgins, Radke, Dvoracek.  No – 0.  Motion carried 6 – 0.

 

            Motion by Higgins, seconded by Spilinek to approve the participation in the graduation ceremony and the issuance of diplomas to all Seniors who have met the graduation requirements of the Class of 2019.  Yes – Spilinek, Graves, Higgins, Radke, Rasmussen, Dvoracek.  No – 0.  Motion carried 6 – 0.

 

            Motion by Higgins, seconded by Rasmussen to approve $600 of radio ads to be spread across stations 107.7FM The Island, Y102 Country and 106 Hits for the month of May.  Yes – Graves, Higgins, Radke, Rasmussen, Spilinek, Dvoracek.  No – 0.  Motion carried 6 – 0.

 

            Motion by Higgins, seconded by Radke to revise policies 201.04 on Board Membership Elections and Appointments; 201.07 on Term of Office; and 203.01 on Organization as presented.  Yes – Higgins, Radke, Rasmussen, Spilinek, Graves, Dvoracek.    No – 0.  Motion carried 6 – 0.

 

            Motion by Spilinek, seconded by Graves to go into Executive Session for the protection of needless injury to the reputation of individuals to discuss Certified Staff Contracts.  Yes – Radke, Rasmussen, Graves, Higgins, Dvoracek.  No – 0.  Motion carried 6 – 0. President Dvoracek declared the board in Executive Session at 8:18 p.m.  The board was declared out of Executive Session at 8:36 p.m. with no action taken.

 

            Motion by Radke, seconded by Higgins to approve the certified staff contracts for the 2019-2020 school year.  Yes – Radke, Rasmussen, Spilinek, Graves, Higgins, Dvoracek.  No – 0.  Motion carried 6 – 0.

 

            Motion by Higgins, seconded by Spilinek to approve an interim superintendent contract for Ted Classen for the 2019-2020 school year with the following changes: 10 personal days, 6.5 sick days.  Yes – Rasmussen, Spilinek, Graves, Higgins, Radke, Dvoracek.  No – 0.  Motion carried 6 – 0.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 9:02 p.m.  The next regular meeting is May 13, 2019 at 8:00 p.m.
